Apple Tree Pruning

Farmers Dale and Brandt were out in the freezing cold this week to prune our apple trees. Pruning helps maintain the trees and make sure they put forth optimal growth for our apple picking season. Apples start to be ready to pick in August. Follow this link for an informational video.

This is a branch of the apple tree. There are two buds. The shorter stem is a leaf bud and the longer stem is a fruit bud.

  1. I love the pictures in this post. Tree Service Brooklyn NY is a great source for apple tree pruning as well.

  2. It really is interesting to see how trimming a tree can make it healthy. There are so many different kind of things that just seem like they are essential to keep a tree both looking healthy as well as be healthy. Something that really stands out is the fact that there are different kind of branches for the different kind of outputs from the tree. Thank you for sharing which branches are for leaves and which are for apples as well. http://www.meadtree.com/services/tree-care.php
